CLASSICAL BALLET
THE NUTCRACKER
Experience the magic of the holiday season with MK Dance Academy’s annual performance of The Nutcracker, open to all dancers in Wilson County and the surrounding areas! This beloved tradition brings our community together for an enchanting performance that’s perfect for the whole family. MKDA students ages 3 and up can take the stage, while dancers from outside the academy, ages 5 and older, are invited to audition for a role in this festive production. MK Dance Company members are guaranteed a spot in the show.
(Please note that all participants must be enrolled in weekly dance or gymnastics classes to join in the fun.)
BEGINNING & INTERMEDIATE BALLET CLASSES
REQUIREMENTS
Ages 3 and up. Ages 3 and 4 ONLY MKDA enrolled students. Ages 5+ open to the community
Dancer must be enrolled in a dance or gymnastics class.
All dancers must audition.
If you attend our Summer Intensive, you are guaranteed a spot in the performance
There is a participation fee of $75, but there is no costume fee for The Nutcracker. (The studio owns the costumes used for The Nutcracker.)
Dancers must sign up HERE for auditions.
REHEARSAL
The Nutcracker is a full-length ballet production. Rehearsals for all roles will be held on the weekends.
Your dancer will rehearse either Saturday or Sunday afternoons. Older dancers may be required to attend Saturday and Sunday rehearsals.
The last month leading up to the performance, we will run the entire production from start to finish. Depending on casting, this could require both Saturday and Sunday rehearsals.
Due to the short timeframe to learn the entire ballet, if a dancer misses more than 2 rehearsals, they will not be allowed to participate.
PERFORMANCE
Date: Tentatively set for December 14th and 15th
Location: La Vernia High School Auditorium
Tickets sales begin Nov 1, 2024. Seats are limited. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for Children 3 and up. If your child requires a seat, a ticket will need to be purchased. If you need accessible seating, you can email the studio.
